A sweet treat sold in select stores in a more than dozen states, including Georgia, has been recalled over a "serious" health risk it poses to certain consumers.

Camerican International has issued a recall of its 7.05 ounce boxes of Aldi brand "Casa Mamita Churro Bites filled with chocolate hazelnut cream" due to the potential presence of milk that was not declared on the product packaging, according to a recall notice shared June 3 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This could cause a "serious or life-threatening" allergic reaction in consumers with a severe sensitivity or allergy to milk.

An investigation into the recall indicates that the mislabeling was "caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging process." The error has since been corrected.

The affected product, which features the lot number 01425 and "Best If Used By" Date of JUL/14/2025, was sold in select Aldi stories in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

There have been no reported illnesses in connection to the recall as of June 3; however, consumers are encouraged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
