Dogs definitely can’t ignore their instincts. Linda Oswald says her family was driving on Idaho State Highway 41, on Sunday (June 6th) when their vehicle collided with another call. At the time of the crash, their two-and-a-half-year-old border collie-red heeler mix, Tilly, was ejected through a window. Oswald says some witnesses who stopped to help started searching the area for the dog, but there was no sign of him after ten hours of searching. The family posted about the missing dog on social media, but there was no sign of him until Tuesday (June 8th) when Tyler Potter noticed one of his sheep herding dogs appeared to have darker fur than usual. He also got suspicious when the dog would not respond to its usual name. He soon realized the dog was actually Tilly. He captured Tilly and turned him over to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was searching for Tilly in the area. Tilly was reunited with his family late Tuesday morning. All agree Tilly most likely was following his instincts, and was drawn to the farm by the opportunity to herd sheep.
