2 teens arrested after allegedly stealing vehicle from Hinesville dealershi

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) — Two teens are facing numerous charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle at a Hinesville dealership.

A Dodge Durango was reported missing from Liberty Chrysler’s car lot in Hinesville when employees reporting for work noticed the business had been broken into, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Public Information Officer, Phillip Bohannon, and Hinesville Police Department (HPD) Assistant Chief, Terronova Smith said.

Law enforcement found that the vehicle was taken around 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The teens, who are 14 and 15, were able to locate a key for the Durango, law enforcement said.

A BOLO was put into place and a LCSO deputy attempted to stop the vehicle around 7:30 a.m. on Airport Road and 15th Street. The teens refused to stop, and a chase ensued, Bohannon said.

The chase was called off by the deputy near E.G. Miles Parkway and Pineland Avenue due to heavy traffic, but the vehicle was latter spotted.

Smith said the vehicle was later spotted on Pineland Avenue and officers were able to locate it at the Parkers service station on McClary’s Curve on East Oglethorpe Highway. Officers then apprehended a 14-year-old and 15-year-old, but law enforcement did not know who the driver was.

Both teens are facing burglary and theft charges and were taken to a youth detention center.
