SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The city of Savannah continues its emergency weather conditions after a night of snowfall.
Tuesday’s winter storm brought 1-3 inches of snow and ice to the city, according to the National Weather Service. The city remains under a state of emergency due to impacts from the storm until Friday.
Administrative offices and facilities for the city will stay closed through at least Thursday.
The city’s 311 call center remains active. Residents are encouraged to submit requests for services by calling or using the 311SAV App. For emergencies, dial 911.
The city strongly urges residents to limit all travel due to hazardous road and sidewalk conditions. The WAZE App includes the latest road conditions and closures. Residents are also encouraged to sign up for Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) alertsto receive the newest updates on road closures.
If travel is necessary, WSAV has a list of do's and don't's for driving on snow and ice.
Georgia Power has reported limited power outages in the area. Residents are encouraged to make sure furnaces and space heaters remain in good working condition throughout the cold weather this week.
Sanitation routes will be affected by the closures. Residential garbage, recycling and yard waste collection services will not operate on Thursday. The Bacon Park Convenience Center and Dean Forest Landfill will also remain closed through Thursday.
