SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Connor Hackling has been named News Director of WSAV News 3.
WSAV Vice President and General Manager David Hart made the announcement Monday, Jan. 27, 2025.
“I am very excited to have Connor take over the leadership of our broadcast and digital news operations,” said Hart. “He brings a strong record of integrity, journalistic excellence, innovation, and staff development. I am confident Connor will build on that reputation as our news director and in doing so, significantly elevate the quality of local news, weather, and sports WSAV produces on all our platforms.”
Hackling comes to WSAV from WRBL-TV in Columbus, Ga., where he was the News Director for the past three and a half years, having worked his way into management after joining the station as a producer in 2014.
"I look forward to leading news operations at a station such as WSAV, which has a great reputation for serving the community," said Hackling. "There are many important things happening right now in the Coastal Empire of Georgia and Lowcountry region of South Carolina. It is my goal to lead a team that provides strong local news to our viewers."
Hackling is familiar with the area, having graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2013 before moving to Columbus. He worked as a Producer, Executive Producer and Assistant News Director at WRBL before taking over as News Director in 2021.
Under his leadership, WRBL received numerous awards from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and oversaw record growth in digital news metrics in 2024.
Hackling’s first day at WSAV will be Feb. 17, 2025.
