WALTERBORO, S.C. (WSAV) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting after a man allegedly pointed a firearm at a deputy.
Deputies were called to a residence on Jennings Court on Saturday in regard to a domestic-related incident, a Colleton County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) representative said.
One deputy spoke with the caller while the other attempted a traffic stop on Harley Alan Prater, 30, as he pulled into the driveway.
Prater exited the vehicle and allegedly pointed a firearm at the duty, which resulted in the deputy firing at Prater through his windshield. No one was injured, CCSO said.
Prater surrendered into custody and has been with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and pointing and presenting a firearm.
The investigation has been handed over to SLED.
